BASIC MANUAL FOR HANDLING DATABASE
DATABASE (DB)
DEFINITIÓN.
They are a set of data belonging to the same context (or common theme)
and stored systematically (in an organized and classified) for later use.
•
Physical or static. They are tangible.
A library can be considered a database composed mostly of documents and texts
printed on paper and indexed (sorted) for consultation. Example: Dictionaries,
Directories.
·
Due to technological
development in fields such as computer and electronics, most of the databases
are in digital format (e) as used to store customer information from banks,
utilities, etc. users emails. Allow manipulation taking into account certain
aspects of security and integrity of information.
APPLICATIONS BD.
Common applications are to manage customer information,
services or products from companies and public institutions. They are also
widely used in scientific environments in order to store the experimental data.
BASIC TASKS OF BD.
The tools for manipulating databases should basically allow:
storage of data fields, data query and records, updating or amendment of
records and disposal of these when they are obsolete.
TOOLS FOR WORK WITH
BD.
There are programs called management systems databases,
which allow the construction and administration of secure storage structures
and comprehensive information. Examples are Managers: Oracle, Informix and
Access (editor Microsoft databases)
OBJECTS
(COMPONENTS) OF BD.
All BD manager should allow the design of four key
items:
• Tables. They
allow efficient storage of data within the database.
•
Consultations. Allow to extract data stored in tables.
• Forms. They
are the tool through which allows users to manipulate (insert, query, modify,
delete data) the BD in a simple but safe.
• Reports. This
tool allows you to generate reports printed or screen information database.
MS. ACCESS.
Manager is a database editor Microsoft office
package, easy and intuitive handling in a graphical environment and tools
similar to those used in other office suite applications.

WINDOW ENVIRONMENT.
MS. ACCESS. TOOLS BAR
Title Bar: This contains:
• Toolbar shortcuts: icons on the left side that allow the
most common tasks of document editing: save, undo, repeat, print, preview, and
an option to customize this bar.
• Name of the database and the program: in the middle of
this bar allow the identification of the document.
• Icons minimize, restore and close: To manipulate the size
of the program window.
File tab: Contains the options to save, open, insert, print
and publish documents BD also provides access to predesigned templates for new
BD structures and a panel to store specified storage location and name of the
database.
Home Tab. Contains options for formatting the data stored in
the database.
Create tab: Contains the options to insert objects (Tables,
Queries, Forms, Reports) that allow you to manipulate the database information.
External Data tab: Contains the options to import or export
information and BD components.
Tab Tools Database: Contains tools for structuring options
Advanced mode the BD.
TOOLS FOR MANAGEMENT
AND DATABASE DESIGN
In Ms. Access objects (tables, queries, forms, and reports)
of the database can be constructed from the create tab. This tab provides
different options organized into boxes to give the designer the construction of
the objects according to the specific requirements of the information to be
systematized.
In the tab create
find:
• Templates. They
allow use examples in Access and art structures.
• Assistants. That
guide the designer step by step in building the database objects.
• design views. They allow designers to build and manually
configure advanced cana one of the objects in the database
